The wild TRUTH behind 'Mormon face': Former member of ultra
An ex-member of a religious sect has lifted the lid on 'why certain people look Mormon,' claiming it's all a result of the community's incredibly strict rules about marriage.
Alyssa Grenfell, 31, grew up within the confines of an ultra-strict household but escaped the uptight lifestyle and began to focus on reclaiming her body when she was in her late 20s after moving from Utah to New York in 2017.
The former member of the Mormon church has since been sharing tidbits about her transformation and her journey to freedom as she dishes about the unknown truths surrounding the religion on her social media account.
Now, Alyssa has revealed the reasoning behind Mormons' matching features - claiming that you can often tell whether someone is a member of the religious sect because of their similar appearances, which she said was the result of the religion's 'small gene pool'.

Now, Alyssa has revealed the reasoning behind Mormons' matching features - with her using Ryan Gosling, who was raised Mormon, as an example
In a clip posted to her YouTube account, Alyssa detailed why she thought Mormons look alike - beginning with who they love and their personalities.
She said: 'Have you ever wondered why certain people look Mormon? I see this all over social media.'
Alyssa pointed to Ryan Gosling, who was raised in a Mormon household but has previously said he never really consider himself one, as an example of someone can easily be identified as a member of the religion due to his appearance.
The ex-member explained that this was because they only marry other people in the religion so they often share some DNA.
'Mormons really only marry other Mormons. You can't marry in a Mormon temple unless it's two Mormons getting married, this in large part has made it so that the gene pool is actually very small - especially in a place like Utah, where Mormons fled to be able to practice polygamy in peace,' Alyssa said.
'Those Mormons were only making babies with other Mormons for a very long time, and the only other opportunity to make the gene pool larger is to convert people.'
Alyssa also noted that Mormons tend to be spotted from a crowd due to their personalities.
'I think another reason is not just the way Mormons look, but it's also their vibe. Mormons are hyper-friendly, almost too friendly. Mormons are taught to share their religion. I think that Mormon culture is very copycat,' she added.

Alyssa, along with her husband, left the Mormon Church and moved from Utah to New York City in 2017, embarking on a journey to discover what her life could be outside the church
The former member explained that Mormons believe in the 'straight and narrow path,' which gives them a very strict and direct outline in life, which they can't stray from.
She noted that they often believed that there was only 'one right way to do things.'

Alyssa was a Missionary Training Center (MTC) teacher at the time she got married, and has spoken out about the undergarments she would wear under all her clothing.
As she and her husband got older, they started trying things outside what was allowed in the Mormon church, like coffee and Alyssa experimented with not wearing undergarments under her clothes.
As Alyssa, who has also written a book called How To Leave The Mormon Church gets older her fashion choices become bolder; as she starts to show more skin and 'reclaim her body back.'
The mom-of-two and teacher previously showed off her full transformation in a clip shared to TikTok.
